Division I member schools have three attestations to complete for the 2023-24 academic year: compliance; diversity, equity and inclusion; and campus sexual violence. All three attestations are now available and are due Nov. 3.

For administrators to complete the attestations, they need their school's NCAA MyApps administrators to assign the courses to them in the NCAA Learning Portal. Instructions and other information on the attestation process can be found on the attestation page on ncaa.org. Questions about the attestation process can be sent to webhelpdesk@ncaa.org.

Read on for more details about each attestation.

Compliance
Each school in Divisions I, plus Division II and III schools with programs that compete in Division I sports, must complete the attestation of compliance every year. Presidents/chancellors and athletics directors are required to do this for their school, but first need their school's NCAA MyApps administrators to assign the courses to them in the NCAA Learning Portal.

Content in the learning modules covers the compliance requirements for member schools, collaboration with the NCAA when an issue arises and the importance of creating a culture of compliance on member campuses. There are separate modules for presidents/chancellors and athletics directors.

Diversity, equity and inclusion
The learning module for member schools to attest that they have completed a diversity, equity and inclusion review opened last fall. Presidents and athletics directors at all Division I schools must complete the module by the Nov. 3 deadline.

The NCAA office of inclusion released this sample framework in 2022 to illustrate example questions schools can ask in a diversity, equity and inclusion review process. It is not required to use this framework. The resource was created at the request of NCAA members and reflects the priorities expressed in the NCAA Board of Governors inclusion statement. The framework includes questions for a broad-based campus team to review and prompts schools to remedy self-identified shortfalls through a series of suggested action items.

The sample framework was designed for use by colleges and universities. It is not subject to formal NCAA assessment or approval, and it is not required that a member use any specific format to complete a review. Member schools are not required to submit their review information for the attestation.

The NCAA is working on a separate resource for conference offices to be published in summer 2023. Conferences must complete their first review by Nov. 1, 2024.

Campus sexual violence
Every year, all NCAA member schools must complete the requirements set forth in the NCAA Board of Governors Policy on Campus Sexual Violence.

Preventing sexual violence on campus is critical and athletics departments must work in partnership with campus colleagues to address this important issue. The NCAA’s sexual violence prevention tool kit is one of the many available resources that can provide athletics departments with collaborative strategies to support safer campus environments for all.

In the past, member schools completed this attestation every spring. Last summer, the Board of Governors approved moving the campus sexual violence attestation to the fall to correspond with the timing of other attestations. Now that it’s available, member schools will attest that they met the six requirements of the policy on preventing campus sexual violence during the 2022-23 school year. (Policy item nos. 4-6 are new for this year’s attestation.)

A school's president/chancellor, athletics director and campus Title IX coordinator must sign the campus sexual violence attestation. Failure to complete the requirements of the policy or to attest will result in the school being unable to host an NCAA championship for the next applicable academic year.
