Helping Your Student-Athletes:
When to Transition Their Eligibility Center Account

When student-athletes decide to study and compete at the NCAA Division I or II level, they must have a Certification account, which enables them to certified by the Eligibility Center once they are on an IRL. Certification ensures they are ready to play when they get to campus. For students with a free Profile Page account, they can simply transition to a Certification account at any time. Click here to learn how students can transition their Eligibility Center account. (Students without a free Profile Page can create a Certification account. A free Profile Page account is not necessary to create a Certification account.)
Certification Account
Please note that a student-athlete should not have more than one Eligibility Center account. If they already have a Profile Page account, transition that account and do not create a new Certification account. If you know of any student-athletes with duplicate accounts, please email ecinfo@ncaa.org or call 877-622-2321 Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eastern time.

Early Graduates: Upload Transcripts and Proof of Graduation

Do you have student-athletes graduating early? Remember to upload their final transcripts and proof of graduation as soon as possible. When you submit a final official transcript with proof of graduation to a student-athlete’s Eligibility Center account, that account becomes “Ready to Process— Final,” which means the student’s Certification account is ready to be reviewed for a final certification decision (needed for them to play once they reach their college campus). Remember, a student being recruited by an NCAA Division I or II school must have a Certification account.
Uploading Transcripts to the High School Portal
If your midyear graduate’s final transcript doesn’t include a proof of graduation notation, you may provide verification of the student's graduation date in letter format. This alternative proof of graduation by letter must be on your school’s letterhead and signed by a high school administrator. Individual letters for each student are required (form letters cannot be accepted) and should include the actual date (month, day, year) the student met graduation requirements.
Note: You may submit proof of graduation letters directly to the Eligibility Center via email at ec-processing@ncaa.org or by fax at 317-968-5100. Click here for additional information about acceptable transcripts and proof of graduation.

NCAA Recruiting Calendars

NCAA member schools limit recruiting to certain periods during the year. Recruiting calendars promote the well-being of college-bound student-athletes and ensure fairness among schools by defining certain periods during the year in which recruiting may or may not occur in a particular sport. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, recruiting calendars may be adjusted. For the most up-to-date information, visit on.ncaa.com/RecruitCal.

High School Review: Calculating Core-Course GPAs

Did you know that course weight can potentially be used when calculating your student-athletes' Eligibility Center core-course GPAs?
  • Weight may be added to courses designated as honors/pre-AP/pre-IB, advanced and AP/IB.
  • Maximum of one quality point of weight may be added.
  • Weight may only be applied in terms of quality points after numeric grades have been converted to letter grades.
Next steps:
  • Check to see if a weighted grading scale is on file via the High School Portal's list of core courses.
  • To update your course weight policy, send the request and supporting documentation (i.e., school handbook) to ec-highschool@ncaa.org.

Sport Science Institute: Depression

Sport Science Institute
Depression can have many causes, and may have little to do with your student-athlete's sport.
When you note signs of depression in a student-athlete, your quick response lets a student-athlete know that you take their health, difficulties and life seriously. The Sports Science Institute provides educational resources for schools to promote and support the health and well-being of student-athletes. Click here for information on how you can detect the signs of depression and help your students.
