Requesting Final Amateurism Certification
A Critical Step for Your Recruits! |
|
| As of April 1, students initially enrolling in the fall 2024 semester became eligible to request their final amateurism certification via their Eligibility Center account. Before making this request, fall 2024 enrollees must select the NCAA enrollment period that reflects initial full-time enrollment at their first NCAA Division I, II, or III school. |

|
Currently, over 132,000 eligible student-athletes have yet to request their final amateurism. How many are your recruits?
Please continue using the “Open Tasks Report – Action Required” report to identify accounts with the “Incomplete Sports Participation Response” task to determine if the student needs to update their sports participation questionnaire before requesting final amateurism certification. After making the request, make sure your students promptly respond to newly assigned tasks, including requests for academic records to assign graduation dates. |
|
Graduation Timeline Confirmation FormThe “Additional Academic Documents Needed for Amateurism Certification” task signals the possible need to process the student under the delayed enrollment legislation. The task is commonly (but not exclusively) assigned to international students educated in countries with tiered education (ex., Scotland, United Kingdom, New Zealand and Caribbean countries) after the submission of an initial form of acceptable proof of graduation.
When the student has not or will not earn an additional form of acceptable proof of graduation (such as a “Tier Two” or “Tier Three” credential listed in the Guide to International Academic Standards for Athletics Eligibility), the student should fill out and submit “Section A” of the Graduation Timeline Confirmation Form, linked within the task. The information provided should include a reference to the final acceptable graduation credential the student earned. Submission of this form generally finalizes the graduation date required by the Eligibility Center during the student’s certification review. |
|
New Resource: National Governing Body Attestation FormFor amateurism certifications involving participation that may qualify for the national/international competition exception, a National Governing Body Attestation Form has been created to streamline information gathering from NGBs. There are separate NGB attestation forms for Division I and Divisions II/III, which are linked in the student's assigned task whenever such national/international competition may need further review. Please note that an NCAA school must email the completed division-specific NGB Attestation Form to the Eligibility Center. |
|
Service Standard InformationBeginning May 1, certification accounts with the fall 2024 and winter/spring 2025 enrollment periods (or older) will be reviewed within the 10-business day service standard once the account is ready to process and the account is activated, whichever occurs last. Accounts with the fall 2025 enrollment period (and beyond) will still be reviewed under the 20 business-day service standard once activated and ready to process.
Please note that as of May 1, the 2023-24 IRL cycle is no longer available for activation and the EC will discontinue processing accounts activated to this cycle. If you have students that still need academic or amateurism reviews, please activate those accounts to the 2024-25 cycle immediately. |

Submission of Academic Documents COVID Policy Sunsetting April 30, 2024
As a reminder, official academic records are required for initial-eligibility certifications. If only unofficial records are available for students who initially enroll full time in the 2023-24 academic year, they may be submitted to ec-processing@ncaa.org directly from the email address associated with the student’s EC account and should include the student’s NCAA ID in the subject line.
Note: This policy will expire as of April 30, 2024. Starting May 1, 2024, official academic records will be required and must be submitted via an approved channel for domestic and international students.
