NCAA Convention, Jan. 12-16

Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Jan. 12-13 Mental Health First Aid. SAAC will be completing the Mental Health First Aid certification training on Monday.
2026 Convention legislation. SAAC will finalize its position papers for the division’s legislative proposals and resolution.
Event planning. SAAC will discuss its final preparations for the Division III Special Olympics event, Wed., Jan. 14, 1:30 to 3 p.m. in Prince George's Exhibit Hall D, a student social mixer on Wed., Jan. 14, 8:30 to 10 p.m. in in Woodrow Wilson Ballroom B-D, and a student luncheon on Thurs., Jan. 15, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Cherry Blossom Ballroom.
Management Council, Jan. 13 Membership dues assessment. The council will consider a recommendation from the Strategic Planning and Finance committee to pause the Division III membership dues assessment for FY27.
FY27/28 budget planning process. The council will receive an update on the current planning process for the next two-year budget cycle (Sept. 2027 to Aug. 2028).
Enforcement legislation. The council will consider a request from the Committee on Infractions to approve noncontroversial legislation that would create two exceptions to the current restriction on public disclosure of information while an infraction case is pending.
Student-Athlete Reinstatement policies. The council will consider a request from the Committee on Student-Athlete Reinstatement to amend its policies for processing cross-divisional issues.
Pre-enrollment competition. The council will consider a request from the Interpretations and Legislation Committee to approve noncontroversial legislation to eliminate the academic year in residence as a condition for a student-athlete who participates in organized competition after delaying their initial full-time collegiate enrollment.
2026 Convention legislation. The council will review and discuss the 2026 convention legislative proposals and resolution.
Division III analysis. The council will receive an update and discuss the initial steps being taken to launch the analysis.
Presidents Council, Jan. 14 New council members. The council will act on a recommendation from the Nominating Committee to add an immediate replacement to the council. It also will act on a recommendation from national SAAC to appoint two new student-athletes to the council effective with the close of the NCAA Convention.
Division III analysis. The council will discuss the identified initial steps to launch an analysis of the division. There will be several sessions held during the NCAA Convention to identify the objectives of the analysis (Presidents and Chancellors Forum); discuss what makes the Division III student-athlete experience unique (joint PC/MC/SAAC breakfast) and identify potential tension points (Issues Forum). After the convention, the Presidents Council will review the feedback and initiate next steps.
