We asked Jahiem Peake,a student-athlete at John Carroll and recent participant in the Student Immersion Program, a few questions. You recently attended the NCAA Convention. What was most memorable? Being a participant in the Student Immersion Program was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The early days and late nights, just after the short three days we spent together, it was like you had met your new lifelong friends with the same career goals in mind. As your campus SAAC president, what are key initiatives you have accomplished? A few key initiatives we have implemented at John Carroll are financial planning for outgoing seniors and mental health consultations to help student-athletes cope with no longer playing their sport Click hereto read the remaining questions and answers.

Division III Award Recipients
Congratulations to this year’s award winners honored at the NCAA Convention in San Antonio. The Division III LGBTQ of the Year Recognition Award recipients are Centennial Conference (Conference/Athletics Department of the Year), Courtnie Prather, UC Santa Cruz (Administrator/Coach/Staff of the Year), and Elise Morris, Middlebury (Student-Athlete of the Year). Dr. Marsha Harris, New York University, received the Silver Anniversary Award, recognizing the 25th anniversary of the completion of her college career. Blaine Hawkins, Central (Iowa) and Jack Mulvihill, St. John Fisher were recognized with Today’s Top 10 Award, given to outstanding senior student-athletes from the previous academic year. The NCAA Woman of the Year award was presented to Karenna Groff, MIT. Congratulations to all this year’s award recipients.

The NCAA's office of inclusion has released its Black History Month resource guide for member schools and conferences. The guide was created to support member efforts in highlighting the contributions of Black student-athletes on and off the field.
