DIVERSITY & INCLUSION QUARTERLY UPDATE
NOVEMBER 2023
Inside Perspective
We asked Chris Spells, assistant director of athletics at Claremont-Mudd Scripps, a few questions.
What lessons have you learned from the Pathway Program? The importance of personal values, and how they should align with the work that we do on a daily basis.
What leadership traits do you use to be successful? I focus on listening, learning, and then acting. I’ve learned that acting before you’ve heard the whole story, or without first taking in a different perspective can lead to sometimes making the wrong choices that are not best for the team or group.
