Requesting Final Amateurism Certification
A Critical Step for Your Student-Athletes! |
| As of April 1, students initially enrolling in the fall 2024 semester became eligible to request their final amateurism certification via their Eligibility Center account. Before making this request, fall 2024 enrollees must select the NCAA enrollment period that reflects initial full-time enrollment at their first NCAA Division I, II or III school. |
|
|
|
Currently, over 129,000 eligible student-athletes have yet to request their final amateurism. How many are your student-athletes?
Before requesting final amateurism certification, athletes must verify that their graduation and enrollment dates in their Eligibility Center Certification account are accurate. The enrollment date must reflect the term they plan to first enroll at any NCAA school. Please review this resource for additional information on this process and share with your athletes and their families to assist with this critical step in their journey to become NCAA athletes.

New Transfer Rules Adopted for Divisions I and IIEffective immediately, student-athletes transferring from a four-year school to an NCAA Division I or II school can be immediately eligible, provided they meet certain academic requirements and regardless of the number of times they have transferred previously. Specifically, student-athletes must leave their current four-year school in good standing and meet progress-toward-degree requirements at the new NCAA school they plan to attend. Student-athletes transferring from an NCAA Division I or II school must still request notification of transfer to have their name entered into the NCAA Transfer Portal prior to having any athletics communication and/or recruiting activities with their future NCAA school. For additional division-specific information and resources on NCAA transfer rules and notification of transfer, please visit ncaa.org/transfer or call the NCAA Customer Service's legislative line at 317-917-6008, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Eastern time.
Submission of Academic Documents COVID Policy Ends April 30
As a reminder, official academic records are required for initial-eligibility certifications. During COVID, relief was provided that, if only unofficial records were available for students who initially enroll full time in the 2023-24 academic year, they may be submitted to ec-processing@ncaa.org directly from the email address associated with the student’s EC account (including the student’s NCAA ID in the subject line). However, this policy will expire as of April 30, 2024. Starting May 1, 2024, official academic records will be required and must be submitted via an approved channel for domestic and international students.

NCAA Sports Wagering Education
New Module Provides Direction for Student-AthletesThe NCAA launched its first sports wagering e-learning module designed to further educate more than 500,000 current and college-bound student-athletes on problem gambling’s harms and the risks sports wagering poses to the integrity of their games. Following feedback from student-athletes and campus leaders, the NCAA engaged former college athletes, including an NFL player, to better connect with current student-athletes. Topics covered also include NCAA rules and social media harassment.
The module is a free, interactive tool that immerses the learner in an educational experience with helpful information, scenarios, Q&As and resources, all delivered by former student-athletes, for student-athletes. Every student-athlete registered with the Eligibility Center will be tasked to complete this module via their Eligibility Center account. |
