The council adopted a proposal to permit wagering on professional sports, effective November 22, 2025.
-
Note: The rule change is not an endorsement of sports betting, particularly for student-athletes.
-
What: Provides evidence- and consensus-based recommendations and resources to member schools for supporting and promoting student-athlete mental health.
-
New Resources: The NCAA CSMAS approved gambling and sports betting resources to consider when implementing the NCAA Mental Health Best Practices.
➡️ The Mental Health Best Practices Quick Learn course provides a 15-minute overview of the four Mental Health Best Practices.

Division III and the National Council for Mental Wellbeing fund institutions to provide Mental Health First Aid training to 30 staff, coaches and administrators.

Schools will be eligible to receive one funded training during the program now until Aug. 1, 2027.
➡️ Next Steps: Schedule a fully funded Adult MHFA training for your Division III school. Athletics directors or athletic trainers should visit mentalhealthfirstaid.org/ncaa/ to complete an inquiry form.
Reminder: Catastrophic Injury Reporting
NCAA legislation requires member schools to report annually on all student-athlete fatalities, near fatalities and catastrophic injuries.
-
Schools must report a catastrophic event that occurred during this annual cycle and must report retroactively any catastrophic event that occurred since the legislation became effective Aug. 1, 2014, if that event has not been reported.
-
Report a fatality, near fatality or catastrophic injury here.
