Upcoming Meetings and Anticipated Discussions.
Financial and Risk Management Working Group, Jan. 9 Third-party review. The working group will discuss the process it used to select an outside vendor to conduct a financial analysis of the division. It also will discuss the anticipated review timeline and next steps.
Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Jan. 9-10 2024 legislative proposals. The committee will discuss its positions on the two amendments to the Philosophy Statement proposal. It also will refine and practice position papers for the Business Session where the committee’s chair will cast SAAC’s first ever vote.
SAAC subcommittee priorities. The committee is continuing a collective effort towards its three subcommittees: Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ); Mental and Physical Health; and Special Olympics. Special Olympics activity. Division III SAAC is hosting a Special Olympics Unified Sports Activity on Thursday, Jan. 11 from 1:30-3 p.m. in the Phoenix Convention Center Room 232. All Division III students and delegates attending convention are encouraged to attend.
Division III SAAC student social mixer. The committee is hosting a night of minute-to-win-it games along with ice cream sandwiches, popcorn, and lots of fun! All Division III students attending convention are encouraged to attend Thursday, Jan. 11 from 8:30-10 p.m. in the Phoenix Convention Center Room 227.
Management Council, Jan. 10 Men’s ice hockey. The council will consider a recommendation from the Championships Committee to increase the ice hockey bracket from 12 to 13 teams beginning with the 2023-24 academic year.
2024 legislative proposals. The council will discuss and consider asking the Presidents Council to take a position on the two amendments to the Philosophy Statement proposal.
Division III membership dues assessment. The council will consider a recommendation from the Strategic Planning and Finance Committee to pause the membership dues assessment (i.e., the amount above the annual membership dues set by the Board of Governors) for FY25 and FY26.
Cannabinoids. The council will consider a recommendation from the Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sport to remove cannabinoids from the NCAA banned drug list.
Presidents Council, Jan. 11 2024 legislative proposals. The council will discuss and take a position on the two amendments to the Philosophy Statement proposal.

Sports wagering. The council will receive an update on the recent survey and resources developed by the NCAA to educate student-athletes about the negative consequences of sports wagering.
