Requesting Final Amateurism Certification

Process Opens to Eligible Student-Athletes April 1

Before the Eligibility Center can certify student-athletes as eligible to practice, compete and receive athletics aid, they must request their final amateurism certification. Without this step, which takes your student less than three minutes to complete once logged in to their Eligibility Center certification account, their future as an NCAA student-athlete is on hold!
Students enrolling for the first time at an NCAA Division I or II school in the fall semester can request their final amateurism certification beginning April 1. Before requesting final amateurism certifications, students must verify that their graduation and enrollment dates in their account are accurate and complete (including payment or fee waiver). The enrollment date must reflect the term they plan to first enroll at any NCAA school. Please review and share this resource for additional information on this quick but critical process.

Note: Students should revisit all questions in the Sports section of their account before requesting final amateurism. This step ensures their account information is accurate (e.g., all teams participated on, expenses received, sponsorship received, prize money received and use of a recruiting or scouting service) to ensure a timely amateurism review.

Interested in joining the HSAG? To apply, submit a resume and 500-word statement describing why you would like to serve as a group member to ecupdate@ncaa.org. Entries must be submitted by Friday, May 31. Incomplete and/or late submissions cannot be considered.

Note: Participation in the group is a two-year commitment and will require participation in monthly video conferences throughout the academic year.

Reminder: Upload Official Transcripts

For a student’s academic certification to be attempted, transcripts are required from each high school attended. If a former student-athlete appears on your high school’s student report, upload an official transcript that includes all coursework completed at your high school. If a former student-athlete appears on your high school’s student report but did not attend your high school long enough to earn grade/credit, upload a letter in place of a transcript explaining this.
Additionally, please upload official transcripts for all current student-athletes (per your high school’s Student Report) from each graduating class. Academic certifications are attempted using a student-athlete’s first six semesters of coursework but may be attempted sooner depending on when the student was added to an NCAA school’s institutional request list. If a transcript was uploaded mid-academic year, it’s best practice to upload an updated transcript at the conclusion of the academic year.
