Division III Amateurism Flyer

As noted in the August edition of this newsletter, a one-page flyer outlining Division III amateurism certification requirements is now available. This flyer outlines the requirement for international prospective student-athletes to register with the Eligibility Center, create an Amateurism-Only Certification account and receive an amateurism certification. Click here to share this resource with these student-athletes and their families/advocates to help clarify the process and ensure your recruits are ready to compete when they get to campus!

Requesting Final Amateurism

As part of the amateurism certification process adopted for international students initially enrolling in a Division III school during the 2023-24 academic year, requesting final amateurism is a key step. Before the Eligibility Center can begin the process to evaluate and certify a student's amateurism status, they must request final amateurism certification via their Eligibility Center account.

While the process to request final amateurism takes less than five minutes from login to finish, students can submit the request only after a specific date. This date is based on when the student plans to enroll: either at the start of the academic year (August/September) or at the midyear point (January).

For all Division III international student-athletes with either Certification account who are initially enrolling to your school during the fall 2023 term, the first opportunity to request final amateurism will be April 1, 2023. (Students are notified when they are eligible to request their final amateurism certification via a task assigned to their Eligibilty Center account.)

Requirements and Fee Waiver Availability

Before requesting their amateurism certification, students must verify their graduation and enrollment date, make relevant updates to their sports participation questionnaire, and either pay the applicable registration fee or receive a fee waiver from their high school. (As of September 1, a new fee waiver option for international students is available.)

Click here for a short step-by-step video of the process. A reminder regarding requesting final amateurism will be included in the March and April issue of this newsletter.
